Albemarle County is a well established and highly desirable destination for regional, national and international tourists. World-renowned landmarks in Monticello and The University of Virginia (UVA) are here, along with the homes of Presidents Madison and Monroe.

Albemarle County has 13 parks which offer over 3,700 acres for active and passive leisure activities, including swimming beaches, picnic shelters, canoe rentals, boat launches, and fishing piers. Currently, Albemarle has 62 miles of trails which can be used for a walking, running, and hiking. Albemarle County is also home to over 14,600 acres of the Shenandoah National Park, with its many scenic and recreational options for visitors to enjoy. Albemarle is proud to be a gateway community for the Appalachian Trail.
